Body of Missing Student Found in Ilorin: Kwara Police Arrest Suspects
The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of several suspects linked to the murder of Miss Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old student at the Kwara State College of Health Technology.
Miss Mojisola’s body was discovered on a refuse dump near the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State, sparking an intense investigation by local authorities.
According to reports, Miss Mojisola was last seen on August 9, 2024, after her roommate, Miss Blessing, raised an alarm that she had gone missing. The search for the young student came to a tragic end on August 11, 2024, when Mr. Olorunoje, a resident of the Aleniboro area, was informed by local labourers of a disturbing discovery near his home.
The police were promptly notified, and detectives were dispatched to the scene where they found the body of an unidentified female, later identified as Miss Mojisola. Initial examinations revealed traces of blood near the left ear of the deceased, suggesting foul play.
Kwara Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the arrest of suspects involved in the case.
In a statement released on Tuesday, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi revealed that a key suspect, Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student at Summit University, had been introduced to Miss Mojisola by one Miss Timileyin. It is alleged that Happiness lured Mojisola to a night party under the guise of having her act as his girlfriend for a fee of N15,000.
The body of Miss Mojisola has since been taken to the General Hospital in Ilorin, where a medical examination confirmed her death. Her remains have been deposited in the hospital morgue pending further investigation.
“The Kwara State Police Command wishes to assure the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing,” DSP Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further discreet investigation.”
The tragic death of Miss Mojisola has sent shockwaves through the Ilorin community and beyond, with many calling for justice for the young student whose life was cut short.
The police have urged the public to remain calm as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
