CDS Pledges Relentless Pursuit in Fight Against Insurgency

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has pledged that the Armed Forces of Nigeria will uphold its robust operational momentum and strategic presence across deployments both within the country and abroad.

Speaking during his Christmas address on the 26th of 26, 2024, at a festive luncheon with the troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) at Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto, General Musa emphasized the military’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation.

The event was highlighted in a statement released on Friday by Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shittu, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division.

Reflecting on the season’s themes of love, hope, unity, and selflessness, General Musa lauded the daily sacrifices of Nigeria’s Armed Forces and other security agencies.

He expressed profound gratitude for their relentless efforts in ensuring the nation’s safety, particularly in their critical roles within OPFY.

“Your unwavering commitment in the face of adversity is both inspiring and emblematic of true patriotism,” General Musa said.

He acknowledged the immense challenges faced by troops in the field but commended their steadfast resolve, which continues to be a cornerstone in the fight against threats to Nigeria’s peace and stability.

Highlighting recent achievements, the CDS pointed to the deployment of the Special Operations Brigade and advanced combat enablers to dismantle the resurgence of Lakurawa terrorists in Sokoto and Kebbi states.

He described this operation as a vivid demonstration of the military’s unyielding determination to confront and neutralize security threats across all theatres of operation.

As the nation looks toward the new year, General Musa urged the troops to remain resolute in their duties, emphasizing the opportunity to achieve significant milestones in overcoming Nigeria’s security challenges.
