Corps members’ allowance now N77,000 .
The Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to N77,000, effective from July 2024.
This adjustment aligns with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act of 2024, aimed at improving compensation for workers across the country.
The approval was communicated in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, dated September 25, 2024, and signed by its Chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta.
The increment follows a recent advocacy visit by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, to the Commission’s Chairman.
During the visit, Ahmed advocated for an enhanced welfare package for Corps members, recognizing the importance of adequate support for their service to the nation.
Ahmed expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the timely decision, stating that the new allowance would not only provide relief for Corps members but also inspire greater dedication and productivity during their national service.
Before this increment, Corps members received a monthly allowance of Thirty-Three Thousand Naira (N33,000).
