Ex-Reps member Okon defects to APC in Cross River
Dr Patrick Okon, a former member of the House of Representatives and lecturer with the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okon’s defection followed his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his letter of resignation to his ward chairman of Eneyo South of Akpabuyo local government, made available to the NAN, the University lecturer did not give a reason for his defection.
“I wish to formally inform you of my decision to withdraw my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.
“As I leave your political fold, I will always hold dearly in my heart the comradery we shared, and I wish to thank you for all the support you gave me as the leader of the PDP in my ward,” the letter stated.
Okon was a former Chairman of the Akpabuyo Council Area, a former member of the state House of Assembly, as well as a former member of the House of Representatives.
