Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has paid tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers, recognizing their efforts in promoting unity and progress, as the nation celebrates its 64th Independence anniversary.
During the celebration at Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara acknowledged the country’s current socio-economic challenges but emphasized that Nigerians still have reasons to celebrate.
He called on all citizens to support the Federal Government’s initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy by addressing what he referred to as “judicial terrorism.”
Fubara also urged Nigerians to work with the government towards economic recovery.
The governor praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and encouraged fellow governors to step up efforts in combating banditry in the North and pipeline vandalism in the South, identifying these measures as vital for revitalizing the nation’s economy.
Reaffirming his commitment to good governance in Rivers State, Governor Fubara highlighted key achievements in human capital development and infrastructure across various sectors.
He also commended the security agencies for maintaining internal peace and expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their continued support.
Fubara vowed that his administration would remain resilient in the face of lies and blackmail, and the ceremony concluded with the symbolic release of peace pigeons, symbolizing the state’s hope for lasting peace and progress.
