Jarret Tenebe Lodges Formal Complaint with IGP Regarding Alleged Appropriation of $250K Diamond Wristwatch by Edo Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu

A petition has been filed by a Nigerian citizen, implicating Edo State’s deputy governor, Phillip Shaibu, in the purported disappearance of his prized Daytona Gold wristwatch, valued at $250,000.

A viral video circulating across social media platforms showcases the aggrieved individual detailing his account. He recounts a pre-election period during which he and several others allegedly faced an unsettling incident involving security personnel affiliated with the deputy governor. According to his narrative, these security operatives, acting on behalf of the deputy governor, reportedly apprehended them and forcibly transported them to Benin City. During the encounter, an attempt was purportedly made to falsely incriminate them by planting an illicit firearm. The narrator claims they vehemently resisted these actions. Nonetheless, amidst the ensuing commotion, the security personnel are alleged to have seized not only his Daytona Gold wristwatch adorned with diamond accents but also his diamond ring.

The petitioner goes on to assert that following their apprehension, he provided a statement in which he explicitly stated that his Daytona Gold wristwatch had been confiscated by orderlies operating under the direction of Phillip Shaibu. He further asserts that his fingerprints were collected during this process. Subsequent investigative efforts apparently uncovered that the firearm in question was unrelated to him. However, the central issue of his missing wristwatch remained unresolved.

It remains to be seen how this case will unfold as the allegations and circumstances are probed further.

According to the accuser, weeks after the incident, he attended “Afenmai congress” in New Jersey, U.S. where he allegedly spotted his said wristwatch on Edo State deputy governor, Phillip Shaibu.

‘’To my dismay, this year, about some few weeks ago, I went to America. I was in New York and I got to hear that there was this Afenmai congress in New Jersey. To my surprise, I saw Phillip Shaibu with my Daytona wristwatch with my name on it. I wanted to embarrass him but I was asked to slow down and I should take the matter because it was outside the country and it will not be good for such a thing to happen.” he said

He said he kept his cool because they were outside the country, but when he returned to Nigeria, he reported the matter to the police. He said the state police has not acted on his complaint, so he had to proceed to the police headquarters in Abuja to file a petition.

He vowed to collect his wristwatch from the deputy governor and embarrass him anywhere he sees him.

The deputy governor is yet to react to this allegation.
