JUST IN: Police to probe Mohbad’s death
The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) says that it will carry out a diligent investigation into the cause of the death of the late musician, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad.
The Police revealed this on Thursday in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) while it also extended its deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of Mohbad who tragically passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
“We understand the concerns surrounding his untimely demise and the various speculations that have arisen,” the police said.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to a comprehensive investigation into this matter, as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been tasked to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
“Rest assured, updates will be provided as investigations unfold.”
The Police has also encouraged family members or close associates of the late Afrobeats musician with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in this process.
“In the meantime, we kindly request that individuals refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation. Your trust and support are deeply valued,” the Police wrote.
There has been controversy over the death of Mohbad with some on social media pointing accusing fingers at his former record label, Marlian Records and the owner, Naira Marley as well as Sam Larry.
This became heated after it was disclosed on X that Mohbad actually reported the Sam Larry led assault and threat to his life in a letter dated June 27, 2023.
