Kogi East Senatorial Election: Tribunal Orders Rerun
The Election Tribunal, currently convened in Lokoja, has just issued a significant order. They’ve called for a new election to take place in the Kogi East senatorial district. This rerun election will feature Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho from the All Progressives Congress and Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji from the Peoples Democratic Party as the main contenders.
The Tribunal’s ruling specifies that this rerun election should occur across 94 polling units, which, when combined, represent a total of more than 70,000 votes. This decision came about following a thorough examination of the concerns raised by Dr. Adoji in his petition. He had highlighted various irregularities that occurred during the initial election.
The upcoming rerun election is seen as an opportunity to resolve the electoral dispute between these two candidates in a fair and transparent manner.
