Kwankwasiyya members hold special prayers in Kano ahead of guber tribunal’s verdict
On Thursday, in Kano, a multitude of Kwankwasiyya movement supporters congregated to partake in a special prayer session, fervently beseeching for the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
The Kwankwasiyya movement fervently supports Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Governor Yusuf, who is the singular NNPP governor across the nation, happens to be the son-in-law of Kwankwaso. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano is currently contesting the victory that Yusuf secured in the state’s gubernatorial election held on March 18.
As the tribunal gears up to pronounce its judgment on the dispute surrounding the governorship election, members of the Kwankwasiyya movement have opted to seek divine intervention through their collective prayers.
Daily Post reports that the prayers involved male and female followers of the NNPP presidential candidate and were conducted at Zaria, Maiduguri, Hadejia and Gwarzo roads, the main entrances into Kano.
Speaking at one of the prayer grounds, the chairperson of the NNPP Women Group in Kano, Hajia Zuwaira Abubakar, hinted that they are praying against persons hell-bent on removing Yusuf as governor of the state.
She said, “We are aware of the notorious and criminal underground moves to snatch our hard-earned victory of the NNPP government in Kano State and to which are asking Allah to take care of those behind such moves”.
Abubakar explained that they will not allow some disgruntled elements to take away Yusuf’s victory in the gubernatorial poll.
She described the governor’s victory in the election as a ‘popular mandate’.
