Ondo Gov Praises Citizens for Peaceful Conduct Amid Nationwide Protests
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has commended the people of the state for their peaceful disposition amid the ongoing nationwide protests against economic hardship and bad governance.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude for the orderly conduct of civic and economic activities in the state without any security incidents.
Peaceful Disposition
“This development has again brought to the fore the peaceful nature of our people, which reinforces why Ondo remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria,” Aiyedatiwa said.
Acknowledgment of Challenges
In his message to the citizens, the governor acknowledged the economic challenges facing the nation and thanked the residents for their understanding and restraint.
“I want to thank the good people of Ondo State for maintaining peace and not joining the nationwide protests. Even when we, as government, have acknowledged the economic challenges facing our nation and our people, we thank them for heeding our call for peace,” he said.
Appreciation for Various Groups
Governor Aiyedatiwa extended his gratitude to various groups and individuals for their role in maintaining peace:
- Students and Youths: For their cooperation and understanding.
- Women, Artisans, and Public Servants: For their contributions to maintaining calm.
- Civil Society Organisations: For their promise to maintain peace.
- Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, and Labour Leaders: For their invaluable roles.
- Security Agencies: For ensuring safety and security across the state.
Future Initiatives
The governor assured residents that the administration would continue its efforts to alleviate economic challenges.
“Our administration will not relent in its efforts to provide relief for our people as we strive to cushion the effects of the economic challenges in the country. In weeks and months to come, various policies, initiatives, and projects across sectors aimed at making life better for our people will begin to make the much-needed impacts,” he added.
Resumption of Normal Activities
Normal commercial activities have resumed in Akure and most parts of the state after a period of low activity during the planned nationwide protest. Shops, markets, and government offices are now fully operational, reflecting the state’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s remarks underscore the importance of unity and cooperation during challenging times, highlighting Ondo State’s reputation as a beacon of peace and order in Nigeria.
