The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment and redeployment of six Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands across the country, as part of efforts to enhance security nationwide.
This development follows recent promotions in the Nigeria Police Force, which were approved by the Commission last week.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, the newly assigned Commissioners include:
CP Shettima Mohammed, posted to Nasarawa State Command.
CP Rabiu Mohammed, assigned to Kaduna State Command.
CP Adepoju Adewale, now in charge of the Rivers State Command.
CP Mohammed Azare, appointed to lead Akwa Ibom State Command.
CP Wilfred Afolabi, deployed to Ondo State Command.
CP Joseph Eribo, transferred from Akwa Ibom to Ekiti State Command.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, emphasized the importance of the appointments, describing them as a “call to national service.”
“He implored the Commissioners to remain committed to the Government’s efforts to stabilize the nation and ensure that all states are free from crime and criminality.
DIG Argungu added that the Commission will closely monitor their progress, offering support to ensure success in their new roles,” the statement read.
Argungu further encouraged the Commissioners to reciprocate the Government’s confidence in them by rededicating themselves to the service of their country, noting that their leadership is crucial in tackling crime and maintaining peace.
The Police Service Commission reiterated its dedication to strengthening law enforcement across Nigeria and fostering public safety through strategic appointments and deployments.
These redeployments come amidst increased efforts to address security challenges in various parts of the country, with the PSC urging the new appointees to work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver results in their respective states.
