Tinubu Confers National Honours on Akpabio, Kekere-Ekun, Others
President Bola Tinubu has bestowed National Honours on key figures in Nigeria’s political leadership, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Kudirat Kekere-Ekun. The announcement was made during Tinubu’s Independence Day broadcast on October 1, 2024.
According to the President, both Akpabio and Kekere-Ekun were conferred with the prestigious Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
Other prominent figures also recognized include Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, who were awarded the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).
Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, received the honour of Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
These honours reflect the administration’s acknowledgment of their roles in strengthening Nigeria’s governance and leadership framework.
