Tinubu’s Fate to be Decided on Wednesday as Tribunal Rules on Atiku, Obi Petitions
On Monday, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal made an important announcement. They revealed that they would be giving their verdict on the petitions that challenge the election of President Bola Tinubu.
The Registrar of the Court of Appeal, the person responsible for this announcement, mentioned that the judgment would be handed down on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
These petitions were brought forward by the presidential candidates of different parties: Abubakar Atiku from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi representing the Labour Party (LP), and Princess ChiChi Ojei from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
All of these petitioners are seeking to have the election that took place on February 25 declared invalid. Each of them claims to be the rightful winner.
Bangari added that adequate security has been put in place and that only the invited members of political parties and the general public would be allowed into the courtroom to avoid congestion and security breaches.
According to Ubangari, judgement is also expected to be delivered by election tribunals in 25 states for governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly election petitions.
