Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, was notably missing as the tribunal announced its decision regarding the 2023 presidential election. Throughout the hearings on his petition challenging Bola Tinubu’s emergence as Nigeria’s president after the February election, Obi had been actively involved.
Today, Labour Party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, stepped in to represent Obi in court.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima introduced himself as the first respondent, accompanied by the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje.
ThePressNG earlier reported that President Tinubu is also absent at the tribunal sitting.
The president departed Nigeria for the G-20 meeting in India on Tuesday.
Today’s judgment will be delivered by the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Haruna Tsammani, assisted by other members of the panel: Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.
