Troops Neutralize Two Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Zamfara Operation
Troops engaged in Operation Fasan Yamma, targeting cross-border terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State, have successfully neutralized two terrorists during a fierce shootout.
Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, confirmed the development on Thursday, revealing that the operation occurred in the Bambaran Village, Anka Local Government Area.
The operation was a joint effort between troops from the Forward Operating Base Anka, 1 Brigade in the Joint Task Force North West, the Zamfara State Community Protection Guard (ZSCPG), and local vigilantes.
During the fighting patrol, the troops encountered a group of terrorists, leading to a confrontation in which two terrorists were neutralized.
The operation resulted in the recovery of several weapons, including a PKT machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Lt. Col. Abdullahi emphasized the success of this operation as a demonstration of the ongoing collaboration between military and local security forces in the region.
The coordination between the army, local vigilantes, and the ZSCPG is integral to the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and banditry in the North West.
“Operation Fasan Yamma remains committed to eliminating threats to peace and stability in the North West region and ensuring the safety of residents,” Abdullahi stated.
“The operation will continue to protect lives and property in Zamfara and beyond.”
