Two men have died following a multiple-vehicle crash at Second Rainbow Bus Stop along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos on Sunday.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident on Monday, in a statement signed by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu. The agency received a distress call and quickly dispatched its emergency response team, arriving at the scene by 5:52 PM.
The crash involved four vehicles: a MAN truck carrying groundnut oil (registration number KTU 793 YE), a Honda Accord (registration number KTU 223 GH), and two commercial buses. According to LASEMA, the truck experienced a mechanical failure at high speed, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the other vehicles.
“Sadly, two male adults lost their lives in the accident, while others who sustained varying degrees of injuries were treated on-site by LASAMBUS,” the statement read.
The crash left significant damage to the vehicles involved. Emergency responders worked swiftly to clear the scene, with the damaged vehicles towed to Festac Police Station. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to police officers and transported to the mortuary.
