Yahaya Bello’s Aide Resigns from APC, Joins SDP Ahead of Kogi Guber Election

Hon. Abdulkarim Isah, widely recognized by his moniker ECOMOG, has taken a significant step by relinquishing his role as a Special Adviser on Internal and Corporate Affairs to the Governor. Simultaneously, he has disassociated himself from the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with its governing principles within the State, as he embraces a fresh affiliation with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Formerly holding the position of an elected local government chairman, ECOMOG experienced a transition from that role to his subsequent appointment as a special adviser within the governor’s administration.

In a resignation letter penned on August 16, 2023, ECOMOG laid bare his motivations, underlining that his engagement in the political realm has been fundamentally driven by a commitment to serve his constituents. Reflecting on this aspiration, he raised the pivotal query of whether he had managed to meet his obligation toward his people. His response was unambiguous, leading him to conclude that the path forward involves exploring alternative avenues that align more effectively with the betterment and interest of the very populace he has been dedicated to serving.

In a statement made available to newsmen, ECOMOG said it would be counter-productive for Kogi, which had always been in the limelight, to remain in “doom” as it is under Alh. Yahaya Bello.

“It is sad that the APC is dead in the state due to Alh. Yahaya Bello’s decision to impose Ododo as the APC candidate. Therefore, we need to align ourselves to a political party that will bring visible development to our people.

“We are going to a political party that will receive and help us to realise our dreams,” the statement quoted him as saying.
